Reading Update: Jan – Apr 2024

I set a goal for myself in 2024 to read more, so I wanted to share what I’ve read so far in 2024. Check out my list of everything I’ve read and how I’ve rated those books.

I started off the year with Icebreaker and it was a highly anticipated read.  The plot was good and kept me engaged but the spice was I think what people either love or hate about this book.  If you like spice, this one has it.  I love stories where he falls first and this one delivered on this part.  All in all, 3.5 stars.

This was my first book by this author but I can say that it made me want to read more from her.  I loved that this was a romance book but incorporated a difficult topic in the way of female reproductive health.  This book had me both laughing and tearing up from start to finish.  4.5 stars for sure!

I had only read one Taylor Jenkins Reid book in the past but I had high hopes for this one and it didn’t disappoint.  This one tells not one, but two beautiful love stories and it was hard for me to route for one male character or the other as I found myself loving them for different reasons (although I do believe it ended the way I preferred).  This one was a quick read for me, 4.5 stars easy!

I was eager to start the Addicted/Calloway series and this one wasn’t disappointing.  There was definitely a lot of character introduction in this book, so it didn’t seem like there was a huge amount of plot happening, but we met all the characters for the next nine books and this book was vital for setting the story up.  I enjoyed this as an introduction to the series and thought it was great, 3 stars!

This was a quick read as the second book in the Addicted/Calloway series and I enjoyed it.  This story was told from Lily’s perspective and shed some light on her addiction which I thought was interesting.  It was a look inside of her compulsions and the feeling of guilt around them and I thought it was interesting to see her perspective on these things.  This was a 3 star read for me.

This was the best in the Addicted/Calloway series so far. Watching Lily and Lo’s lives be turned upside and how they handled that was a fantastic journey. No matter what stood in front of them they always walked the journey together and I truly fell in love with their story in this book. This is the one that hooked me for this series and made me convinced to read the rest! A 4 star read!

This is the first story in the Clarkson series and if you are looking for spice, this book has it.  I wouldn’t say the story line was incredibly deep here, but I still enjoyed Rita and Jaspers story.  Overall 3.5 stars on this one!

This is the first book in the Dirty Air series and I love a good sports romance, but I wasn’t sure how I felt about an F1 romance. I was wrong…I loved Maya and Noah’s story. This book had forbidden love and spice and was just overall a great sports romance. Loved it from the beginning. 4.5 stars for me on this one.

This was a cute, quick read about 3 friends who start a business where they “fix” boyfriends. When the main character runs into someone from her past things take a turn for them both. This book had great banter and was a super quick read. Loved it…3.5 stars!

I am a sucker for sports romance and when it’s hockey it always seems to be top tier and this one didn’t disappoint. Mile High is the first book in the Windy City series and I loved the story of Zander and Stevie. I loved getting to watch Stevie truly pull out the soft side of Zanders and watch their story unfold. This book had forbidden love and spice and I loved it from the start…4.5 stars

This is the second book in the Clarkson series and I will say I enjoyed the first one more than this one. Tessa Bailey never disappoints on the spice front, but I just think with this one Aaron just wasn’t it for me as a male main character. I liked Grace as a character but I didn’t feel like the two had a ton of chemistry either. Wasn’t my favourite so I’m giving it 2.5 stars

After reading the first 3 novels in the Addicted/Calloway series I wasn’t sure if I would like this story because I wasn’t sure how I felt about Connor and Rose. But I will say that reading this book changed my mind on them as a couple. The way they bicker back and forth worked for their characters and although in the first couple chapters I wasn’t sure about the Reality TV show storyline it actually was well written. Overall this book made me love Rose and Connor more than I thought…4 stars

This was the couple from the Addicted/Calloway series I was waiting for. Ryke and Daisy had just enough air time with each other in the first four books to make me curious about their relationship and let me tell you this book did not disappoint. I was invested in their story from the very beginning and I loved the way it played out. They complement each other well and the banter between them is fantastic. A 5 star read for me for sure!

This is the first book in the Avalon Bay series and my first Elle Kennedy book. This was a story about Cooper and Mack who meet because of a revenge plot but then things change. I liked the way these two characters played off each other and I think they complemented each other well. The story was cute and I gave this an easy 3.5 stars.

The second book in the Dirty Air series and although I loved Liam and Sophie’s story, I did think the first book was better.  Forbidden romance is definitely something that I do enjoy and I loved that their story came together so beautifully. An easy 3.5 stars!

Before reading this book, I had heard that you could skip this book altogether if you were reading the entire Addicted/Calloway series, but I’m glad that I did read it.  No, it didn’t really add anything new to the plot from previous books, but I did appreciate having Lily and Lo’s view on the same events and it did make me love the two of them as characters more so if you were asking my opinion, it’s worth the read.

I felt like this book wrapped up Lily and Lo’s story so beautifully.  As my second favourite couple in this series, I was so happy to see their story come together the way that it did.  I felt like this was a such a happy ending to their story after watching the battles they fought in the first 4 books so I couldn’t have wished for anything better.  4.5 stars no question.
