Last week I shared 9 lessons I learned in 2022 and today I’m sharing 23 things that I’m taking into 2023 based on those lessons (and some random ones too). I don’t really consider these things New Year’s Resolutions (cause honestly, who needs that kind of pressure), but they are things that I want to commit to in 2023 (and the bonus is you get to come along for the ride while I do it all)! Some will look like goals, and some are just experiences I want to have throughout the year of 2023, but the year will be dedicated to these 23 things, so let’s get into it;
Take more photos and videos
This is one I have never been good at, but in 2023 that changes. I’m a sucker for compilation videos, but you need to have photos and videos to make them, so 2023, get ready for a full camera roll!
Read 12 books
In 2023 I want to read 12 books, and I want these books to be completely unrelated to health and fitness (cause this is almost what I read exclusively these days). Growing up I was a reader, I loved books and I used to finish books in a day or two, but it’s been years since I’ve read for fun, but that all changes in 2023. I’m also looking for recommendations please and thanks!

Plan a trip
I’m unsure of where or what yet, but it’s been years since my husband and I have been on a trip and in 2023 I want to go somewhere. Stay tuned for the details on where and when, but I’m ready for a vacation!
One date night each month
Anyone else terrible at getting date nights in or is that just me? In 2023, let’s commit to bringing back the fun of date night. I’m not saying we always have to go out, I’m not saying they need to be big or extravagant but let’s add a monthly date night back into the routine (and for people who do this weekly, hats off for you, but how on earth do you have the time?!)
Seeing my best friend once a month
Isn’t is crazy how easy it is to go months without seeing your best friend?! In 2023 that changes. I’m making the commitment to see my bestie at least once a month! We used to have a weekly date night when we were still in school through the summer months and honestly it was life giving so in 2023 we’re committing to once a month (cause we’re both busy, so that’s more realistic than once a week, maybe we’ll get there)
Say no to more things that don’t enhance or add value to my life
Can I get an AMEN here?! I’ve actually started to get better about this in 2022, but in 2023 we are making the commitment! Stressful things are out and beautiful, life giving things are in!
Create and maintain a skincare routine that works for me
Okay technically, I’ve already sort of started this one. I am 100% guilty pretty much my whole life of barely even washing my face on a lot of days, and yes I’ve been blessed with pretty great skin so I got away with it, but in 2023 I want to change that. Like I said, for the last couple months I’ve been relatively committed to a skin care routine but I’m notorious for starting one and not following through, but we’re sticking with this one, right into 2023 and beyond. I am still refining what this looks like, but we’re working on it a little bit at a time.
Find clothes that I am confident and comfortable in
Again, probably something else that many people can relate to! This is another one that I’ve kind of already started, but we’re continuing on that trend in 2023. I (like so many others) have always been bad for keeping clothing that I once loved, but just no longer fits right or I don’t love anymore but no more! If it doesn’t fit the way I want it, it goes! Got a favourite clothing brand you want to share, please do!
Start journaling
I’m not really 100% sure where this one is going to go for me, but I feel like anyone can benefit from dumping their thoughts into a journal, so 2023, we’re going to give it a go. If I’m being honest, it’ll probably end up being a note in my phone and not an actual notebook, but I’ll take it for now. This has always been a hard thing for me, but it is certainly something that I would like to give a try to in 2023.

Start a gratitude practice and stick to it
Okay, so I guess this one could kind of go along with the whole journaling thing, but gratitude is a practice I’ve tried to implement 101 times in my life an honestly, I’m not very good at sticking with it. So in 2023, let’s trial and error how we can stick to it, because the benefits of gratitude, they are plenty and I want to reap them too!
Listen to music everyday
Maybe this isn’t your thing, but I honestly find music is so lifegiving for me so in 2023, we’re committing to putting my favourite songs in my ears each and every day. I’ve always loved music, and this is one thing that won’t be difficult for me, but I want to me more intentional about the songs that are coming through my headphones. I’m a sucker for a good song lyrically and I want my favourites in my ears every day!
Get up when my alarm goes off
We are all guilty of the snooze button at one time or another, but I know for myself I am super guilty of it almost every day. So in 2023, no more snooze button. When the alarm goes off just get out of bed…it seems silly to lay in bed when your already awake so I’m committing to getting up when that alarm goes off…wish me luck on this one, cause it’s going to be a challenge for me!
Avoid starting the day with social media
In addition to the snooze button, I’m also very guilty of laying in bed and scrolling social media first thing in the morning and for 2023 we’re putting that habit behind us. At the bare minimum, I want to at least get up, wash my face and get dressed before I venture into the social media realm. It’s like starting my day for me and not for anyone else.
Spend 200 hours outside
I’m not the girl who goes outside in the winter…I’m just not a fan of the cold, so maybe this goal is low, maybe it’s more realistic for me I’m not sure (I’ve seen people do 1000 hours a year outside), but this is what we’re starting with. Again, most people know the benefits of being outside and the fresh air so in 2023 I’m planning on spending a minimum of 200 hours outside, are you joining in??
Start a vegetable garden
I say this pretty much every year, but then it becomes too late to start it, but this year the plan is to get it started early enough. I’m not a gardener (like at all), but I’ve always liked the idea of growing some of my own veggies so in 2023 I want to give it a go. This will be small scale and probably only start with a few vegetables, but even one plant can produce vegetables right?!
Complete a wellness related continuing education course
If you know anything about me you know that I love taking courses (lifelong learners raise your hands)! I’m not sure what this course will be yet but my goal is to complete a wellness related course in 2023

Complete a fitness related continuing education course
To stick with the theme, 2023 will also bring the completion of a fitness related continuing education course. I’m not committing to any one course yet as with the wellness goal, but obviously fitness is a huge part of my life and I will always continue to learn and grow within the industry so this is an important piece of that!
Complete a social media related continuing education course
This is not an area where I’m an expert, but I’m slowly learning and to continue to drive that learning process I’m adding a social media course to this list as well! Bring on 2023, the year of learning (just kidding, I am always taking courses every year)!
Post one blog every week
I dropped the ball on this last year. For a couple of reasons, but honestly when I look at them now they just sound like excuses, so in 2023 I’m not making them anymore. One new blog, each and every week. I’ll do my best to stick to my usual Wednesdays, but give me grace, as I am human and sometimes it might be a day or two late.
Create one new fitness/wellness program
In 2023 I will add at least one new fitness/wellness program offering to my business. I have probably half a dozen ideas that I can choose from so I’m not 100% sure what it will be yet, but you better believe there will be one (maybe more)! Keep your eyes peeled for new offerings!

Add one new piece of equipment to my home gym
I try and do this every year and in 2023 I intend to do the same thing. Adding one large piece to my home gym each year has allowed me to build an incredible place in my home so I have no excuses and no one to fight for equipment with. Having a home gym is literally my saving grace on my health and fitness journey and I love adding to it each year. This piece is actually already ordered so stay tuned for the unveiling!
125 pound back squat
I couldn’t finish this list off without throwing a couple of fitness goals on it. My focus in 2023 is to continue to increase my strength and the back squat is one of my main focuses. So my the end of 2023 the goal is 125!
165 pound deadlift
For anyone who doesn’t know this lift is literally the ban of my existence. I have struggled with low back for years and at the beginning of 2022 I finally decided it was time to look after it. Although I still have my days I have defiantly watched this improve immensely over the last year which means that I’ve been able to actually build my confidence with this lift and I’ve learned to not be afraid of it. So in 2023, we’re going to keep the momentum going with an aim to hit a 165 pound deadlift.
Do you have 23 things you want to accomplish in 2023?? This can be an incredibly motivating thing to write down and honestly, writing mine I feel very empowered and motivated so go ahead and write yours. They can be anything, large or small, nothing is too small. Give it a go and watch your confidence soar! And if you have any interest, stick around and watch me chase my 23 things for 2023.
hey, this is indeed a nice list and wish you all the best. 🙂 of all the things that really caught my full attention was “spending 200 hours outside”. i not a winter person but i am fan of spending quite time outdoors and still i spend my time between home and office. i am definitely taking this to my heart and will plan to at least do 100 hours outside, i.e, at least 1 hour 1 day for 100 days. i owe this much to myself 🙂
