What are your favourite health and fitness apps. Today I’m sharing my top apps with you. Most of these apps I use almost every single day and in very simple ways but they are certainly helpful to improve your health and fitness.
1. AnyList
If you are looking for a meal planning and grocery shopping app this one is one of my favourites. This app allows me to create grocery lists for all the different grocery stores I shop at and allows you to cross those things off once you add them to your cart. It also has a hugely beneficial meal planning tool. You can add your own recipes to the app or import your favourites from the internet and save them. Then you just have to add them to your calendar when it comes time to do your meal planning. Your meals are now just a quick click away. You can also share lists with others which can be beneficial if you have to send someone else in your household to do the shopping that day. This app is a paid one but I will tell you it’s worth every penny!

2. Happyfeed
If you aren’t practicing gratitude you can start today with Happyfeed. It’s honestly the simplest app to use but it’s been the one thing that’s allowed me to keep a somewhat consistent gratitude practice (and no I’m not perfect…I miss some days). This app is free to use and each day you can log in and record 3 things that you are grateful for. The app will give you one prompt as well if you are finding yourself stuck. Practicing gratitude has such positive health benefits so go ahead and start today with this super simple app!
3. AutoSleep
I don’t know about you but there was a period of time in my life where I was sleeping horribly. I would sleep what I thought was enough and would wake up feeling awful. Autosleep is an app that allows you to track your sleep. It gives you information about how long you are sleeping but also looks at things like your heart rate during sleep and how much deep sleep you are getting. I started using this app during a time when I wasn’t getting high quality sleep. When I was able to see the data I was able to start to make adjustments to my sleep hygiene habits and improve my sleep overall. There are a ton of different sleep tracking apps out there and typically they work best if you have some sort of wearable technology but this is a relatively affordable one that was a small one time fee that I have come to love.

4. Breathe
Technically this one is an Apple Watch app but let me tell you it’s definitely a favourite for me. Meditation and mindfulness is something that I have struggled with performing consistently for years but this little app has helped me start to change that. It’s a simple app that encourages you to breathe with the vibration of the watch. But my favourite part is that I can set it for as little as 1 minute. Yep that’s right, a one minute breathing break. Staying consistent with any sort of mindfulness practice was always a huge challenge for me because I felt like I didn’t have 20 minutes or more to dedicate to it, nor did I feel like I could sit for that long. Cue 1-2 minute breath sessions. A few of these sessions a day can help you accumulate 10 minutes or so, helps you implement mindfulness into your day regularly and only takes a minute. Hands down my favourite mindfulness app.
5. Flo
This final one is for all you ladies out there. I have spent time over the last few years trying to learn more about the female monthly cycle…because there is just so much to learn…and I came to realize…I didn’t know much. Flo has been a great app to help you not only monitor your symptoms throughout your cycle but it also gives you explanations as to why you may be feeling certain things at certain times. For example, I go through phases where I have about a week where I’m a lot more tired than I am at other times of the month. Until I started tracking my symptoms using Flo I never realized that it tends to correlate with where I am in my cycle (obviously this isn’t always true in every situation, but you get the idea. The fluctuations in hormones that occur throughout the monthly cycle can lead to so many different reactions in the body. I also love that this app features different educational resources as well. I began with the free version of this app, but have since purchased and love all the features.
There you have it…5 health and fitness apps that I use most days! There are so many great ones out there so drop your favourites in the comments!
